The darkness is coming, in full psychedelic and 60’s splendor thanks to Jordan Galland’s “Leave My Friends Alone.”
A track that is half a slower version of Classics IV “Spooky” and half any track off of Dead Mans Bones debut album, plays up the ghastly feel in an extra retro chic way.
Echo vocal effects, and plinking keyboards drive this song along with the lyrics which boast a ghostly warning to anything that goes bump in the night.
“Hey, Hey Dark Spirits
I know you can hear this
Pack your bags
Leave my friends alone.”
Galland’s hazy vocals matches Classics IV lead singer Dennis Yost, and the chanting modernizes the retro chorus of ahh’s and ooh’s keeping everything in check.
Play them one after the other and keep Halloween in your spirit all year long.
